Art and Cause: Delhi Artist Raises the Stakes for Dog Lovers
Claws and Paws, a Delhi-based NGO, is dedicated to the welfare of stray dogs and cats. What one can do for the love of dogs and cats is exactly what this NGO is demonstrating to society. Recently, they combined this generous cause with a performing arts event.
The founder of this humane cause, Alankrita Mishra, is an artist and a cyber expert by profession. She has been feeding stray dogs and caring for animals for a long time. Her love for the species that can’t take a stand for themselves brought her to a point where she started this NGO and involved her art form to create awareness and raise funds for this amazing cause.
Art for a Cause: Raising Awareness Through Community Events
She partnered with a community of Artists, Speaking Souls, to organize the events in Delhi NCR to spread awareness about the mistreatment of animals and how we can contribute in the betterment of their life.
Several events have been hosted so far with the help of the same community. One of the recent events was held in Gurugram, where poets, storytellers, and comedians performed in support of the cause. The event was organized by Speaking Souls under the guidance of Anurag Patel. This hour-long event was full of art and purpose, which many might not have thought of otherwise. The cause was also supported by the venue, Housr, which not only provided space for the event but also let the voices be heard in the city.
Founder’s Message: Giving a Voice to the Voiceless
In conversation with one of our writers, founder of this NGO stated that, “We should speak up for the ones who can’t speak. No random animal would run behind a bike or a car unless they get triggered or carry a past trauma. Once we understood the reason behind the mishappening because of animals, we will not only be able to stop it but will be less scared and adore them ”
They have not only fed the animals but have also protected them whenever required. In many of their social posts, one can see the struggles they face, which seem like an effortless journey because of their love for the animals and this cause.
